Saddest Factory

Team Size: 5 | Length: 48 hours | Role: Systems Designer

Saddest Factory is a first-person factory game. The player plays as an engineer who was sent to hell by mistake and now is trying to build a factory to produce goods that will improve the quality of life in hell. This game features many crafting recipes and a multitude of items, buildings, and other mechanics such procedural world generation as well as power infrastructure.

This was I project I worked on during a 48 hour game jam in a team of 5 people. As the sole designer on this project my focus was creating the factory style game progression. within the 48 hours I designed and implemented factory crafting system with 43 recipes

I used the collaborative Figma whiteboard to create color coded charts for all systems in the game including all resource generation/production sites, crafting machines, recipes, and energy infrastructure. I also worked within the engine to implement all of the items and recipes in the game as well as using particle systems to make visual effects.
